lahore is a historical city of pakistan and is the second largest city of pakistan. lahore has been the centre of cultural heritage for many civilizations. lahore hosts most of the art, cuisine, festivals, film making, music, gardening etc. lahore's population was 6,318,745 according to the 1998 census. mostly the language punjabi is spoken by people of lahore.
it has been proved that historically lahore is at least 2,000 years old. lahore grew under emperor babur. lahore was part of the mughal empire from 1524 to 1752. the city served as empire’s capital from 1584 to 1598 under the emperors akbar the great and jahangir. the city flourished a lot architecturally during mughal’s rule. aurangzeb ruled from 1658 to 1707, who was the last of the great mughals, built the city's most famous monuments, the badshahi masjid and the alamgiri gate next to the lahore fort.
the lahore zoo is the world’s third oldest zoo. the city lahore has impressive temples, large markets and huge orchards. the mughals who were famous as builders, gave lahore some of its finest architectural monuments, many of which are extant today and are known as historical buildings. lahore’s economic base is broad and varied. the city is the engineering hub of the country. major industries include the manufacture of automobiles and motorcycles, home appliances, steel, telecommunications, information technology, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, computers, engineering, and construction material.
pakistan railways is headquartered in lahore. it is an important source of transportation for commuters and connects distant parts of the country with lahore for business, sightseeing, pilgrimage, and education. lahore has the country’s largest software producing center and hosts a growing computer-assembly industry. also this city is known as a hub for manufacturing handmade carpets.

the famous recreational buildings of lahore include lahore museum, lahore fort, badshahi masjid, shalimar gardens, bagh-e-jinnah, safari park, race course park, gaddafi stadium, liberty market, fortress stadium. the people of lahore love to eat so there are many famous restaurants over there i.e. kfc, mcdonalds, pizza hut, domino’s pizza, dunkin donuts, subway sandwiches, moreover food streets are also loved by these foody people.
