Marriage in Pakistan is a family event of happiness. The bride and groom cherish this event fully. The event of marriage usually consists of Mangini, Mayoun, Mehndi Dholki, Nikah, Barat and Walima. The bride and groom must both have three witnesses present. A close male relative asks from girl her consent and gets her signatures on the Nikahnama.

Barat and ruksati is the main day of marriage. The bride wears traditional red dress lehnga or gharara and the groom mostly white sherwani or suit with traditional turban. Salami and gifts are given during the event. At the time of ruksati the groom and his family leave with bride to their house in a decorated car.

Walima (feast dinner) is the final day of wedding. It mainly consists of a feast dinner from groom’s side. The bride wears dress and jewelry provided by the groom’s family.
